Configuresoft, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise server configuration management solutions, today announced that Configuresoft Director of Corporate Strategy and recognized expert in IT configuration and systems architecture George Gerchow, ITIL, CISSP, CCNA, MCPS, SCP, has authored an intensive, accelerated course in ITIL for security management for the highly-regarded SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute.
The 2-day program, ITIL Essentials for Security Management, is designed to prepare students for the ITIL Foundations Exam and provide the knowledge and skills necessary to manage IT services within the guidelines of ITIL (the IT Infrastructure Library).
“ITIL has become the de facto world standard for best practices in delivering high-quality IT services,” Gerchow said. “Its proactive approach defines processes and procedures that enable companies to gain efficiency and effectiveness across the IT and operations environment. Because of its rapid adoption, ITIL-centric and certified employees are in high demand and this Foundations Training is a critical piece of the puzzle for IT professionals in today’s competitive markets.”
With more than 15 years of IT and systems experience in education, finance, and government environments, Gerchow has managed staff in large enterprises and deployed a combination of IT processes complimented by systems management tools for some of the world’s largest corporate and government networks.
His extensive experience with Cisco and Microsoft products includes infrastructure design, security, and implementations. In addition to his role as director of corporate strategy for Configuresoft, Gerchow is an active member of the Center for Policy & Compliance, a research and advisory group designed to address the issues of managing security within strict metrics.
Gerchow will lead the program starting this quarter incorporating his own practical experience and insight from managing the infrastructures of some of the worlds largest corporate and government agencies in the areas of ITIL, configuration management, operational and security compliance and patch strategy.
ITIL Essentials for Security Management maps directly to the exam objectives and offers exam tips, process simulation and practice exams. Participants will also earn 6 CPE credits per day. Students will gain knowledge of IT business processes and how to integrate security best practices within the ITIL framework.
Participants will examine ITIL v2 and v3 fundamentals, simulate the value of process and a common IT business language, and learn to create, operate, and support IT services while ensuring that the current investment in IT delivers expected business value at an acceptable level of risk.
