Welcome to the IT Managers Inbox. A blog for IT Managers and IT Professionals.
My name is Sam Grier and I am an IT manager in a Fortune 500 company.
IT departments are in a constant state of evolution with new technologies, new processes and new practices. Each day we are challenged to drive business value through IT. To do this we must be innovative, adaptive and most of all pro-active. Our goal is to align IT to meet the present and future needs of our organization.
I am passionate about improving myself as an IT professional and the IT department that I work in. I am a firm believer in the philosophy of continuous improvement. Each day I seek to improve my management skills, soft skills and technical skills. I believe that to be part of a world-class IT department one must continuously look for better ways to do your job.
I started the IT Managers Inbox as a way to share information. I read a lot of books and scour the Internet for information on a variety of technical and professional subjects. Before the dawn of the World Wide Web I ran a Bulletin Board System (BBS) for nearly 10 years. That experience taught me the value of exchanging information and ideas with others. I believe that blogging is the modern extension of that philosophy.
Personally this blog has become an excellent learning tool that has helped me broaden my knowledge of Enterprise IT, management and leadership. While I primarily focus on Enterprise IT technology and management, many of the subjects I like to cover apply to any size IT department and management in general.
I hope you will find this blog useful in your own journey to improve yourself and your IT department. Feel free to contact me anytime by using the “Contact Me” form. I am always happy to hear from others who share my interests.
